A boy named Hu sails across the ocean to learn English and experience life, but soon finds himself confined to lonely studies in a dreary housing project. Hu tries to end his isolation by painting a third eye on his forehead. His third eye reveals the thoughts of strangers, and Hu descends into the dark heart of the new world.
